Retine The Flower Family
One of the Retine's strongest qualities is who we are and how we treat each other. The Flower Family doesn't just represent the de Jongh family, but our entire Retine team. The warm ties with customers, employees, suppliers and families are the heart of our success. This success is reflected, among other things, by:
-
Employees who have been with us for decades and are therefore able to accurately assess and safeguard the quality of flowers.
-
Suppliers who know exactly what we need; customers who have been buying flowers from us with satisfaction for years.
This way of living and working is in our DNA and we’re extremely proud of it. It is nice to produce the most beautiful flowers together in a good atmosphere - with grandpa, grandma, children, grandchildren and all the staff involved.
If you want to know more about us, you are more than welcome and someone from the family or our staff will tell you all about our chrysanthemum varieties.
The History of the Flower Family
The story of Retine nursery is a true love story. It all started in 1979 with a young couple in love - Dineke and Jan Willem de Jongh. Jan Willem wanted to be a truck driver but Dineke didn’t want a man who was always away. On the advice of Dineke, whose family was in the flower business, they decided to start a flower nursery together. This was the beginning of Retine The Flower Family.
From 1979, cultivation focused on spray carnations in a new greenhouse on the St. Antoniestraat in Tuil. In 1985, the company switched from growing carnations to chrysanthemums. In the following decades, the company developed with the construction of additional greenhouses and a new cultivation site on the Haarstraat in Tuil.
In 2001, the old nursery in St. Antoniestraat made way for a new greenhouse. In addition, son Rene and daughter Martine became active in the company in 2000 and 2003 respectively - hence the company name RE-TINE. Currently, two generations are still working in this family business. The third generation: Lieke, Lotte, Jens, Janneke and Dies are already itching to help out.
